Summary

Alice, pisarka, poznaje Felixa, pracownika magazynu wysyłkowego, i proponuje mu wspólną podróż do Rzymu。 W Dublinie jej najlepsza przyjaciółka Eileen próbuje dojść do siebie po rozstaniu z partnerem i zaczyna flirtować z Simonem, mężczyzną, którego zna z dzieciństwa。

I loved Normal People, this book was the offbrand version。 If you’re looking for a pretentious, odd book about two 20 something year old girls who are insufferable main characters, read this。

I personally felt the characters lacked depth and I had a hard time connecting with them。

Maybe I’m not intelligent enough to enjoy Sally Rooney’s books, but I just can’t get behind them。 It’s like a movie at an indie film festival。

I hated this book。 And hate finished it。 I should have DNF it。 I don’t know what the point of this book was。 No one was likable。

Another very well written book by Sally Rooney with characters that feel real and three-dimensional。 I thought it was interesting that it is written from the perspective of a distant observer, almost as if an alien foreign to human behavior is narrating。 You're given no insight into what the characters are thinking or feeling other than their outward actions。 It was somewhat similar to Normal People, in that it is mostly about love and friendship and longing, with characters that struggle with h Another very well written book by Sally Rooney with characters that feel real and three-dimensional。 I thought it was interesting that it is written from the perspective of a distant observer, almost as if an alien foreign to human behavior is narrating。 You're given no insight into what the characters are thinking or feeling other than their outward actions。 It was somewhat similar to Normal People, in that it is mostly about love and friendship and longing, with characters that struggle with happiness and self worth。 I think I prefer Normal People, but I still liked this one。 。。。more

。。I don’t know why I keep reading these。 I think Rooney clearly is masquerading as Alice’s character and it’s weird!! But still a sort of cute story。 2。5 stars from me!

She portrays the banalities and complexities of a relations SO well!!!! And if I ever read sexy time romance stuff it would be like this。 Great steamy scenes。 This just didn’t have the arc that normal people did and she kept teasing some queer stuff happening and it just did not, so boo

luna

i liked it i had to skim some parts but in general i really liked it im in the minority group in the sense that i liked normal people more than this book but it was good i also dont like the integration of the pandemic into the book

Kristin Ferguson

I enjoyed the story telling, but was bored by the actual story (if that makes sense!)

Emily

100 pages into this book I knew I wasn’t going to like it。。 but I couldn’t not finish it。 I did not enjoy the writing style, I did not enjoy any of the characters, I was bored for most of the book。 Actually all of the book。 Nothing happened during it!!!

Teri Bennett

Not even sure what the plot of story was…。 Except four whining millennials。 😭👎🏻 No character development。 Beautiful story。。 where are you?

this was a fun read- it was basically conversations with friends but sexier and with more blatant/interesting social commentary。 i grew to look forward to the email chapters and the wedding chapter was beautiful。 the ending did spoil things a bit for me but i liked the middle so much that my overall impression is still very positive。 didn’t love this as much as CWF but loved it loads more than normal people。 sally rooney stans rise

Not really sure how I feel about this book but I do know that something was missing for me。 Giving this one a 3。2。 I think it was the plot that didn't make sense to me。 This is a story about two best friends who met in college and now live in different cities and correspond through email every week to keep each other updated on their lives。 One is a successful writer who has had a breakdown and the other is introverted but has had a complicated relationship with an older guy she met when she was Not really sure how I feel about this book but I do know that something was missing for me。 Giving this one a 3。2。 I think it was the plot that didn't make sense to me。 This is a story about two best friends who met in college and now live in different cities and correspond through email every week to keep each other updated on their lives。 One is a successful writer who has had a breakdown and the other is introverted but has had a complicated relationship with an older guy she met when she was very young。 And。。。。that would be the gist of the story。 Even the part that was supposed to be climatic (when the girls finally met up with one another after months of planning), ended up being such a let down。 The only character I found remotely interesting was Felix who was a townie that Alice (the writer) met and became involved with。 The other character's were one dimensional and just boring to me。 。。。more

Awful。 It's just a block of text (the author mustn't be a fan of paragraphs) about toxic relationships with pretentious mails with no relation to what it's going on at all in the middle of the story Awful。 It's just a block of text (the author mustn't be a fan of paragraphs) about toxic relationships with pretentious mails with no relation to what it's going on at all in the middle of the story 。。。more

This is a message to Allie Dalton: You need to read this book。

Megan

I felt like this book was basically varying combinations of random, oftentimes pretentious, conversation, explicit sex scenes, and talk about the book publishing world/internet fame。 It was fine, but not my favorite Rooney。

virgínia

não é o melhor livro do mundo, mas é uma leitura interessante da sua própria maneira。
